Instructions:
Preheat and Prep: Start by preheating your oven to 325°F. Then, in a medium pot, combine the organic blue agave syrup, unsweetened cocoa powder, milk, and two tablespoons of chocolate chips. Heat the mixture over medium heat until the cocoa blends in smoothly. Remove it from heat and add the butter and vanilla. Allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes.
Mix and Pour: Add the all-purpose flour and egg whites to the mixture. Beat it with a mixer until it's wonderfully smooth. Lightly spray a 9-inch round baking pan with cooking spray. Pour half of the cake mixture into the pan. Sprinkle 4 tablespoons of chocolate chips on top, then pour in the other half of the mixture. As you pour, the chocolate chips may gravitate toward the sides. Playfully place another tablespoon of chocolate chips in the center and gently nestle them under the mixture.
Bake and Serve: Slide the pan into your preheated oven and bake for approximately 12 minutes, or until the center is set. Once baked, let it cool for 10 minutes. Invert the cake onto a plate, and voilà – you're ready to serve!
Notes:
- We all need a chocolate fix from time to time, and Lily's Dense Chocolate Cake delivers just that! With minimal butter and fat-free milk, sweetened with low-glycemic Agave syrup, it's the perfect guilt-free treat.
- While this cake is delightful fresh out of the oven, you can also make it ahead, refrigerate it, and warm individual slices in the microwave before serving.
